Richard W. Garnett, The Story of Henry Adams's Soul: Education and the Expression of Associations, 85 MINN. L. REv. 1841 (2001). A prominent American man of letters, Henry Adams, once wrote of the vital importance of the freedom of association. These associations, as a basis for an individual's education, are as important as traditional schooling. The author notes this view, and suggests that the courts pay it heed in deciding cases of freedom of association in public schools.
