Wind In The Willows (BBC1, 6.20pm)

The lavish live-action adaptation of Kenneth Grahame's much-loved children's novel is a real treat to kick start the new year.

Matt Lucas is Mr Toad, the aristocratic amphibian with a love of fast cars, with Bob Hoskins, Mark Gatiss and Lee Ingleby as his best pals Badger, Rat and Mole. Not a bad hangover cure, either, for the grown-ups.

Dead Clever (ITV1, 9pm)

Suranne Jones stars in this one-off black comedy as Julie, a woman who discovers her husband has been having an affair with her sister for the last decade.
