NUNEATON'S George Eliot Hospital has received the top three-star grading in the NHS performance ratings and can now press its claims for foundation status.
The hospital came within a whisker - just 0.4 per cent - of achieving the top rating last year and today's confirmation of three-star grading is a huge triumph for staff.
Hospital chiefs see the rating as showing the determination of the hospital's 2,000 staff to make the George Eliot one of England's better hospitals.
