Nancy and Godfrey walk home in the starlight. When they enter the Red
House, Godfrey sits in a chair and says "That's ended." Nancy agrees; it would
be wrong for them to force Eppie to come against her will. Godfrey sadly
remembers what Silas said about a man's turning a blessing from his door: it
