Chapter Sixty-Five
One morning, a letter comes in the mail addressed to Dr. Tertius Lydgate.
Rosamond notices that it is from Sir Godwin. Lydgate opens it and reads that
his uncle is "not likely to have cash to spare." Lydgate accuses Rosamond of
meddling; she accuses him of mistreating her, saying that it is she who has
been wronged. Because he is kind-hearted and loves her, Lydgate again forgives
her and even apologizes for his behavior. He tells her he realizes their
situation is "ten times harder for her."
