TRIBUTES have been paid to bestselling author and Baldrine resident George MacDonald Fraser, who died on Wednesday.
The 82-year-old author, an Island resident since 1969, was best known for writing the Flashman series of books based on the character created by Thomas Hughes in the Victorian novel Tom Brown's Schooldays.

Journalist Terry Cringle called him a great ambassador for the Island.
The first Flashman book appeared in 1969. The author's most recent work, The Reavers, appeared last year.
