THE novelist George MacDonald Fraser, author of the popular Flashman series of adventure stories as well as a James Bond screenplay writer, has died.
The 82-year-old former soldier, who died after a battle with cancer, worked as a journalist for the Glasgow Herald for many years.
He wrote screenplays including the Bond film Octopussy, but it is for his semi-historical novels that Fraser will be best remembered.
