AS a blind 98-year- old, it would be fair to describe George MacDonald as 'vulnerable' at the very least.

But according to council chiefs the pensioner, who lost his sight after a stroke and a car crash, is simply not helpless enough.

Mr MacDonald's local authority decided to axe his home help after a review said he was not 'at risk'.

Officials ruled that the pensioner no longer required domestic assistance - even though he had used the service for a decade.
