The Waste Management Task Force's request that George MacDonald, director of waste management and recycling for the State Planning Office (BDN, Nov. 2), provide a breakdown of the types of waste disposed of in Maine and where it is generated will yield a reiteration of MacDonald's convoluted biennial reports to the Legislature.

Reading these reports is like accompanying Alice on her journey through the looking glass. They are clearly multi-year attempts to justify claims that Maine needs more landfills and to imply that Mainers are generating more trash faster than state agencies can keep up ...
