The literary achievements of a Yorkshire-born writer will be celebrated in Wakefield tomorrow.
George Gissing, who was born on November 22, 1857 at Thompson's Yard, Westgate, Wakefield, wrote 23 novels and more than 100 short stories.
The 150th anniversary of his birth is being marked by the unveiling of a blue plaque on his childhood home in Westgate and an evening celebration at the Orangery in Wakefield.
