May 16--The Rev. Jerry Falwell found a warm welcome from many in Dallas, where conservative evangelicalism has long flourished. But here -- as everywhere -- he had detractors.

Mr. Falwell spoke 16 times at First Baptist Dallas.

He spoke to an evangelistic conference in Euless in February.

Mr. Falwell's Christianity -- stressing biblical inerrancy and conservative political and social values -- was shaped indirectly by firebrand Fort Worth preacher J. Frank Norris.
