THE BBC'S acclaimed period drama Cranford dominates the shortlist for this year's British Academy Television Awards.
The five-part series, which already has several awards after being hailed a critical and commercial success, is up for three Baftas.
Dame Judi Dench, who receives her record 24th Bafta nomination 12 for film performances for Cranford will face competition from her screen sister Dame Eileen Atkins in the best actress category.
