NOT everyone was impressed by the BBC's acclaimed drama, Cranford, based on the novels of Elizabeth Gaskell. Sir Peregrine Worsthorne, the former editor of the Sunday Telegraph, feels that diversity awareness training is needed for the BBC to help promote positive images of the aristocracy. "On TV, in films and plays, and in modern novels, aristocrats are always portrayed as the villains of the piece: rapacious, cruel and blackhearted," says Sir Perry, 84.
