SOME actors complain that working on a soap is demanding.

But former EastEnders and My Family actress Daniela Denby-Ashe, who spent four years in Walford as Sarah Hills, found her latest role in the period drama North And South more challenging than you might expect.

Based on the novel by Elizabeth Gaskell, the story follows the relationship between Northern cotton mill owner John Thornton, and privileged Southerner Margaret Hale, played by Daniela.

When Margaret's family make a mysterious move from Hampshire to Milton (a fictional town based on Manchester) their worlds collide.
