Un historiador del Christ's College de la Universidad de Cambridge encontró escondido en el marco de un portarretrato un cheque de 100 libras firmado por Charles Darwin. Al parecer el científico tenía un extraño interés por el dinero: fue tesorero de una sociedad científica e incitó a uno de sus hijos a ser banquero, pero tendía a fastidiarse con el papeleo.
