Hull: A city academic has been elected as president of the world's oldest society for Earth science.
Professor Lynne Frostick, of the University of Hull, will become president designate of the Geological Society of London.
She is set to be only the second woman to be elected by the organisation in its 200-year history.
Prof Frostick said: "The organisation counts Charles Darwin among its luminaries and to have been elected as the society's president is an incredible achievement for a woman in what is a very male- orientated discipline."
