Following animal tracks in the forest is something we've read about since childhood. It's been an American tradition since novelist James Fenimore Cooper wrote about the American hero who knows so much forest lore he can easily survive off the land.
But today, although we spend time outdoors walking, whether through the White Mountains of New Hampshire or along the banks of the long-tamed Charles River, few of us understand what we see.
The problem, said wildlife photographer and tracker Paul Rezendes, is that our ignorance is cutting into our enjoyment of the world.
