Brief Summary Of "The Pathfinder"
The action takes place in the late 1750s on Lake Ontario and the area in
New York Colony to the south of it (Oswego) during a war between the British
and the French. Natty Bumppo (at one time known as Deerslayer and later called
Hawkeye) is referred to as the Pathfinder, because of his skill as an expert
scout for the British armed forces. A party of four makes its way through the
