Or take the Glimmerglass Opera Company in Cooperstown, New York, whose annual monthlong repertory this year was made up of Beethoven's Fidelio (directed by Jonathan Miller) and Il Re Pastore, a very infrequently performed Mozart work, which I was told was the opera to see.
