SCHOOL pupils have taken on the tough task of learning Middle English for performances of Geoffrey Chaucer's Canterbury Tales this week.

The youngsters from Pocklington School have been rehearsing a number of the tales from the Medieval book to perform on stage.

The collection of stories was written in the 14th century and describes a group of pilgrims travelling from London to Canterbury to visit the tomb of St Thomas a Becket. They pass the time by telling one another tales.
