A good story is a good story regardless of when it was written.

And Geoffrey Chaucer's "The Canterbury Tales" are among some of the best ever put to paper.

Yes, the tales date back to the late 1300s, but it's doubtful early-21st-century readers will find a tome that's more bawdy and bold while cleverly interwoven with commentary on everything from the social classes to sexism.
