May somehow missed its mark in giving us warmth

Geoffrey Chaucer once wrote "Welcome be thou, faire, fresshe May," in an attempt to describe the month that trees turn green, flowers are in full bloom, and the weather turns warm and makes you forget the cold of winter.
Here in Milwaukee, that statement rang true to begin the month, but the influence of Lake Michigan and weather systems that turned our winds northeast in the last half of the month spoiled what could have been a great precursor to a nice summer season.
