The Parson's Tale

Introduction:

The Parson's Tale is a sermon in prose on the Seven Deadly Sins. It is
from many points of view a fitting end to the Canterbury Tales. It underlines
the fundamentally spiritual object of pilgrimage; in its broad scope, touching
all phases of human conduct, it serves as a commentary on the limited visions
of the various tales and arguments which have gone before; and it demonstrates
that the care of souls by the humble parish priest is the most availing and
