Yellow can be light, the colour of lemonade and sunshine. But yellow is also the colour of jealousy, of poison gas, of fear and cowardice, "a smouldering, unclean yellow"--the colour that is a seeping, dominant presence in Charlotte Perkins Gilman's feminist classic, The Yellow Wallpaper. It's also the tint that pervades Yellow, British writer Janni Visman's second novel.
