THE problem with history is that it can be interpreted in a myriad different ways, usually by the victors.

Writer Ambrose Bierce described history as "an account, mostly false, of events, mostly unimportant, which are brought about by rulers, mostly knaves, and soldiers, mostly fools."

So we can take it that he wasn't too impressed, then, can we?

Similarly unimpressed with the Daily Post's historical nous on one particular point of North Wales' past was my fellow columnist Ivor Wynne Jones.
