REDLANDS - American satirist Ambrose Bierce defined electricity as "the cause of all natural phenomena not known to be caused by something else."
The illumination of a room at the flick of a light switch is just such a phenomenon. A new 1,054-megawatt power plant in Redlands has the capacity to keep those lights on in 685,000 Southern California homes, just in time for warmer weather and increased demand on existing power supplies.
