NEW HAVEN, Conn., May 17 /PRNewswire/ -- The Aristotle Corporation (Nasdaq: ARTL) announced today a loss of $279,000, or $.23 per basic and diluted share, for the three months ended March 31, 1999, compared with a loss of $93,000, or $.08 per basic and diluted share in the same period last year. The loss in the current year reflects administrative costs and preferred dividends which exceeded the Company's return on investments plus additional taxes incurred related to the June, 1998 sale of the Company's Strouse, Adler subsidiary to Sara Lee Corporation.
