Books VIII And IX Friendship
Introduction:
In the previous books, Aristotle has looked at morality from the
standpoint of the individual alone. In Books VIII and IX he considers the
problem of virtue as it is involved in personal relationships or in what he
calls friendship. The Greek word philia has a much wider usage than our word,
friendship. 1) It refers to the relationship toward a person to whom one is
