Every town has some well kept secrets.

In Elgin, one of those is the Elgin Theatre Company, which has been performing since 1952 and has only recently begun to garner the attention of more residents.

Jeff Small, current president, hopes to make some positive changes.

"In the past, there were a lot of 'safe shows.' Now, we're experimenting and trying new things," said Small.

The company will begin its first of six performances of a new children's musical, titled 'The Fabulous Fable Factory,' on at 7 p.m. Friday ...
