The 2004 Aesop Prize is shared by Ayat Jamilah: Beautiful Signs: A Treasury of Islamic Wisdom for Children and Parents (Eastern Washington University Press) by Sarah Conover and Freda Crane, illustrated by Valerie Wahl; and The Magic Gourd (Scholastic) by Baba Wague Diakite. The award is sponsored by the Children's Folklore Section of the American Folklore Society.
