Aesop Rock's "Fast Cars, Danger, Fire and Knives" comes at you with a lyrical blitz of imagery and allusions backed by minimal future funk beats.
The seven-song EP features three produced by Blockhead, one by Rob Sonic and three by Aesop Rock. Despite the producer-to-song ratio, "Fast Cars . . . " is sonically cohesive, employing a generally spare sound that mixes big boom-baps with softer beats, the occasional scratching (by DJ Big Wiz) and well-integrated samples.
