Regarding "Official knows of pollution firsthand" (Page A-1, Sept. 23):

Aesop wrote about North Jersey District Water Supply Commissioner Charles Shotmeyer when describing the fox in the henhouse.

I wish the ancient Greek had written a fable about political connections.
