Hello! I live in the United States, and English is my first language, though I'm trying to teach myself Russian (not working out too well haha). I'm an avid reader, when I can get my hands on a decent books, and I love to write. My current project is a fiction/science-fiction novel that I've been working on for at least two years now.

So... um... yeah. XD Nice to be here.

I am an American living in West Africa, and one thing from America that I really miss is the library! I was excited to find this website. I graduated with a B.A. in Bible/ Theology and certification in elementary education. I love teaching children, but one of my passions is 19th century literature. I speak both English and French, and am working on learning one of the local African dialects.

I don't have as much time for reading, writing, or internet surfing as I would like to, as I am a mother of two boys, ages 7 months and 3 years. But I am married to a wonderful man who loves long discussions about religion and philosophy, and helps to stimulate my intellect beyond the level of my Nick Jr.-loving preschooler.

I hate picking User names, but I chose ThereisTruth because I believe that the common American mentality that you can decide for yourself what is real is completely illogical and dangerous. Certain questions in life fall under the category of opinions, but for others there are right and wrong answers. Don't worry--I am not a hateful, attacking type of person in regard to my beliefs. But I do like to get into honest, logical discussions about questions in life that really matter. I am always interested to find out what other people believe and why. I like to think through issues carefully and look at all the angles of a question to see if my belief really holds up or if it needs to be changed.

    Hello

My name is Claudine and I've just joined. I live in Somerset in the UK with my husband, two teenagers, one dog, one cat and the odd book or two. I wish it was summer because I can't feel my feet.

Hello my name is Mike Webb. I'm English but live in Burgundy, France and belong to a book reading group of ex pats like myself who like to while our time away reading books in the beautiful Burgundian countryside. We are aged between 40 and 80 years of age and although some of the members have had a good education in English literature there are others like myself who are trying to make good our education in retirement.

    Rocket says 'Hello Everyone'

Hi, I'm Rocket. I'm an 18 year old A Level student from England majoring in English Literature. I am also a keen thespian, so no surprise that my favourite playwright is Shakespeare. I often go to The Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford Upon Avon to see Shakespeare's plays and I have also participated in acting workshops there. I am currently doing an Extended Project as part of my A level studies on the relevance of Shakespeare for young people in the 21st century. I have created a questionnaire to find out young people's perceptions of Shakespeare; unfortunately, the feedback I have received so far indicates that young people do not seem to be aware of the relevance of Shakespeare's plays in our society today. This makes me sad because, in my opinion, Shakespeare is as relevant today as he was 400 years ago and I want to share that knowledge with all the young people whose lives could be enriched by becoming aware of the depth of insight into human nature and wealth of wisdom in the works of Shakespeare. I would be very grateful if any of you have ideas about how Shakespeare could be made more interesting or seem more relevant for young people. Many thanks and happy new year to you all. Rocket x seeya:

Hello everyone! My name is Mark. I'm a 38 year old bookworm living in Burlington, Ontario. I've been a hardcore reader since my early teens. Up until a few years ago, my interests were primarily in Greco-Roman literature, though I'm now much more interested in more contemporary literature. Right now, I'm working my way through the great books of Joyce, Kafka, and Beckett. I'm also quite interested in classical and contemporary Japanese literature. I look forward to getting to know everyone better!

Hey everyone. Randomly found this forum from a Google Alerts I get to my Google Reader.

I love literature, so I decided to join. This looks like a great place to
meet others who love to read and discuss what they read.

My favorite book is The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand. I love everything
Flannery O'Connor wrote. I also really like George Orwell, Aldous
Huxley, Walker Percy... and... Stephen King. That's right. Stephen King.

    Anyways. Great to be here!
