My Pokemon nostalgia is inherently German as I (and other kids my age from Estonia) used to watch Pokemon from German satellite TV-channels. Other cartoons too, of course. That was the only way you could watch certain cartoons - i.e the cartoons you liked - and the source of German for quite a number of people my age.
And later would come Digimon and everybody would feel ( at first) that it was an absolute rip-off.
If you believe even a half of this post, you are severely mistaken.
^I totally hated digimon when I was a kid. Where was the cute? It was trying to hard to be a mashup of Transformers and Pokemon, you can't mix those two.
Also, I'm intrigued by German team rocket.
