    Post Iago Vs. Hatred !

    Hello Everyone ..
I've read one of the most inspiring plays of William Shakespeare which is "Othello" ,
and I was surprised by the way in which Shakespeare introduced 'Iago' ..
cuz I can't find an explanation of Iago's hatred.!

Understood that maybe he considered Othello as an intruder who came to thier country and took the most beautiful lady there , and maybe he thought that Othello wants to gain limitless power pretending to be caring .

But , all these reasons don't explain to me the monsterous actions that he did to Othello and Desdemona ..

and out of this comes a question ..
Is Hatred exist in the mind and heart of Humans without 'REAL' reasons ?

One idea is that Iago has 'motiveless malignity'- in other words, he just likes being evil and it isn't founded in anything. Another might attribute the hatred to extreme jealousy. But to me, Iago is very insecure. What he's insecure about is up for debate.

Question Doing Othello for an essay... I think this could be an explanation???

Iago is definately a twisted charactor but to say he is inherently evil is an overreaction in my opinion. 'For i do suspect the lusty moor has jumped into my seat.... nothing can, or shall content my soul till i am evened with him, wife for wife.' This suggests that, even though his final outcome was twisted and wrong, it began as an act of love which turned to jelousy.

What he did was definately wrong but i'm not so sure that we can say he was evil... He does admit in the first act to being envious and jelous of othello. There is no defense for his role in the downfall of the other charactors but nor can all the blame be placed on his sholders.
In way i almost feel sorry for him. He does seem so insecure!!!
