aw thanks, Olga - his name is Syd. huge, ultra hairy with a long orange top coat and a cream dense undercoat, great big furry feet and the softest natured family dog. he's almost 12 now, and aging fast. if he's been laying down a while it takes him a bit of an effort to stand up, and he's a glutton for Bonios, lol. he's a mix of red setter, german shepherd, boxer and black lab.

Ah, everyone's animals are so adorable, the little terrier and the lab are so cute they make my teeth hurt. BrianBean, Millie is lovely and so-o-o dignified (on film anyway ). Big Red and his family, so beautiful. And Weltanshuung, that's quite a sweetheart you've got there.

We had an earthquake a couple of hours ago, not serious, but I was surprised that my cats just continued sleeping. Aren't animals supposed to sense it and become nervous?

    O-o-o-h, Olga, is everyone OK?

Well, that's the theory, anyway. Maybe your cats just big lugs without that extrasensory perception.

No need to worry! The epicentre was far from my town - more than 100km - and it wasn't a strong earthquake only 4,7. I felt my sofa shaking, I just didn't know why, when I read news on internet I learned that it was an earthquake.
Maybe my cats didn't indicate or sense it because it wasn't a big deal.

I would like to share this video with pet-lovers. Maybe some of you are already familiar with this nice cat, called Maru.

I am happy to share this article that Maru survived the earthquake.
We are happy to learn that Maru, Pokke, Meme and the Momo rescue group are safe after the devastating earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan. We are sending our prayers and purrs to all the furry friends and people in Japan. Our hearts go out to them.

Edit: Power is out in many places in Japan including where Maru resides, but they are doing fine.

Updates from ARK, an animal rescue group in Japan.

The cat island also named Tashirojima is near Sendai – [edit] we just received updates regarding the island. We are praying that all the cats knew it ahead of time and made it to safe places.

This is the downside to owning a cat. Milly was given a good talking to and went without food for a day as a result. She knew why I was angry because when I pointed to the bird she ran away. Luckily, today I was working in the garden and there was another robin chirping in the bird bath. The problem occurs with robins because for some reason they wont take food from the bird feeders but feed at ground level on crumbs that fall when other birds are eating. I shall be on the lookout when the cat is outside and she knows what to expect if I catch her at it again.

    Emil,
It's sad that cats kill birds but it's natural. Every spring millions of birds come to this world and if Milly following her instincts kills one or two nothing happens. It would be much worse if birds killed cats.

Here are some picture taken last Wednesday.

This year there are so many swans on the lake that it seems that the lake became white.
