    If there was no literature...

I am drunk with literature. I enjoy living and one of the reasons is literature. I like to read new books of literature almost every day. Poems, though I do not write absorbs me and transports to a different reality.

I just imagine what kind of life I would have been living had there not been a world of literature. Life would have been a bore.

I want to hear from the rest of posters here. How they would feel if there was no literature in their lives

“Those who seek to satisfy the mind of man by hampering it with ceremonies and music and affecting charity and devotion have lost their original nature””

“If water derives lucidity from stillness, how much more the faculties of the mind! The mind of the sage, being in repose, becomes the mirror of the universe, the speculum of all creation.

I can't even imagine such a life. Even if there were no written language stories would still be told, poetry made into song.
I like poetry, long walks on the beach and poking dead things with a stick.

Meh, we would just confine ourselves to survival. Language, and by extension, culture is the first step in developing civilization. Even the most primitive of cultures develop a tradition, first oral of course, then eventually written (or, at least with the possibility of writing).

I guess I'd just have more time for music and art.

I'd find something else to do. Movies, music, art, history, sports, religion. Or maybe I'd just become a drunken hound dog constantly on the prowl. I think I might try that anyway.

Is literature not a substitute for living?

Probably we would be more creative, because we would have to invent our own alternative realities instead of relying on the imagination of others??

I am also drunk with literature and without literature I guess I would just be drunk...

    Best regards

If there were no literature that would mean that there was no language with all of the implications that would bring.
