Only about a week to go on voting... looks like Poe is in the lead but there is a 3-way tie between Checkov, Machen, and Bradbury that someone will need to break

This forum is great. Honestly, I pretty much work all day and rarely have time to discuss books or about anything academic...Lol. So you guys make a poll about which book to read for the next month and discuss it as soon as you finish reading it? I'm new, so a few tips would be welcomed

Went for Berenice as i probably already have it in my collected works of Poe, but have yet to read it unlike TFOTHOU.

    "TFOTHOU!" said the lisping vegan.

Yea that's pretty much how it works, we do two short stories a month, currently we are reading Araby if you want to get in on that before the months out. There is also another forum dedicated to book of the month club, where one book is read each month and discussed.... it looks like for October the book will be Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy

I haven't read anything by Poe yet so it would be awesome to give him a chance

It'd be nice if the short story threads were temporarily stickied to make them easy to find.

Yeah, Poe's great..but I personally think The Fall House of Usher is a highly regarded work that most people have, at some point, read...It's well known, that's my point. Chekhov, on the other hand, is considered to be one of Russia's greatest short story writers. Yet his works have remained obscure to contemporary America, I don't know maybe I'm generalizing..I probably am, lol, Let's give Chekhov a chance though since I haven't read that story and am currently searching for it online.
