What is the line between sarcasm and thoughtless hostility?

What is the line between sarcasm and thoughtless and unyielding hostility?

And could thoughtless, unyielding hostility be called a milder form of hate?

I think you're right. There's no need, and it does stifle discussion.

    Thanks

That's what I thought, that it stifles discussion.

    I'm witty, you're sarcastic, he's thoughtlessly hostile.
    Voices mysterious far and near,
Sound of the wind and sound of the sea,
Are calling and whispering in my ear,
    Whifflingpin! Why stayest thou here?

I tend to agree with sixsmith. Maybe there's a clue in the question. Would the question mean the same thing if it were, "What's the difference between thoughtful hostility and thoughtless hostility?"
