    Smile Hello from Japan

I'm new to this site and wanted to introduce myself.

My name is Andrew Oberg and I live and work in Kochi, Japan.

Have always been very interested in history, particularly ancient but all fields, really. Other academic interests include philosophy and religion.

I teach at a local university here, and in my free time enjoy writing. I have two books available now, a series of humorous coffee-shop short stories, and a graphic novel about the Greenland Norse; you can read some sample chapters at: http://drugstorebooks.com/

And that's the only plug I'll do, I promise!

Am looking forward to getting into the discussions here and meeting some like-minded folk.

    Cheers,

    Andrew

    Hi Andrew, how's it going?

My lad is hopefully off to uni to do Japanese this year, and so he may well be doing his year in Japan.

Miyazaki! Had a great weekend trip there years ago when I was living in Nagasaki. How are you doing with all the mad cow disease and whatnot?

Btw, now is not the summer to visit Kochi. With the "Ryoma-den" show they are expecting insane amounts of visitors, and believe me, Kochi's infrastructure is in no way ready. (<-But imagine that face as being very angry...)

Best of luck to him! Uni in Japan is insanely easy on students, but should be a great opportunity for him to pick up a lot of the language.
