    a notion of spirit #2

*i recently tried to figure a mathematical equation for god: the tiniest possible anything with the largest, then thought, hmm...god can't be represented mathematically, but maybe spirit can.
this was the rude equation: the + nth root of infinity with the the + product of infinity to the nth degree.
of course infinity's not a real number, just a composite such-and such (haven't taken enough math to say exactly what the such-and-such means), but you get the idea. and the formula made me very(!) happy, if rather at a loss for words.*

this is the original poem (that i misplaced) that followed the above rumination:

    i am male with
    you envelop me
    with your perfumes
    a mystery
    sometimes

    the haze
    surrounding your
    figures muddles
    my head
    i cry out in
    anguish and longing
    for your beauty

    you were
    glorious this
    morning; you
    dimmed the sun.

and when i couldn't remember the original:

    you masculinize
    me, open
    your joy
    as you square
    universes, nay
    multiply
    infinity to
    the nth degree
    tears fill my
    eyes at
    your peerless
    beauty; you
    display its
    nth root
    (all this in + capacity)
    swirls in my
    head meld and mold
    like so many true
    loves, perfect
    snowfalls,
    sparkles
    in a baby's smile,
    mirages in the 1960's...

    though i failed
    at love, you
    yet manage to
    exalt me
    and i beg for mercy
    because i cannot
    stand this exquisite
    rapture.

    i lay my mind,
    my loyalty
    on your altar.

    continue
    calculating, listening,

waiting for your whispers, my love.

Argh, yes, I saw the other thread, closed, hence 'a notion of spirit #2.'
Beautiful work, as usual. You display the most superior reverence and respect ideal, I think, to share a stunning spirituality.
Too many philosophers, it seems, have attempted finding a mathematical equation and/or expression to prove (or antagonize) the existence or measure of a Supreme Being, including René Descartes, Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz, and various physicists.
I think Immanuel Kant, however, verbalized it best, without empirical proof that anything infinite, according to its full definition, a finite mind, such as ours, can never comprehend, not even with imagination.
Indeed, you also speak wisely with your parting words: "continue / calculating, listening, / waiting for your whispers, my love."

why, thanks. you don't comment much, so i really take that as a complement. 'specially as i'm a little defunct in the math department.

but you know, guys, you don't have to tell me this stuff's nice all the time.
i was definitely surprised by what i read after posting this in an earlier thread, but really, as long as you aren't personalizing your critiques and are offering constructive stuff, i'd be so happy to see that as well.

How can you be 'a little defunct in the math department' and still have a thing for pi?
    I have a plan: attack!

well, math speaks to me. ("Oh, A-zee-EE," it calls. ) so on an intuitive level, it makes total sense, but i haven't really gone all that far, you know. 'sides, gramps taught math and dad likes it bunches it so p'raps it's a nature/nurture thing.
