Hook has no real identity. In many plays and movies he is often portrayed by the same actor who portrays Mr. Darling, but in the book this is not stated. Hook's identity is that of the enemy. As Hook is the enemy, so is growing up. So, you can either look at Hook as his own being, a villian on the island, or you can look at him as the "dad". An adult who follows all of the rules and makes the children obey by them. In tis sense he is still the enemy b/c he is the "grown up" which is Peter Pan's enemy. In either sense, he is the bad guy who needs to be warded off.
