    i disagree with Andrew

Cassius and Brutus did not commit suicide because they knew Mark Antony's army would have defeated them. Firstly, when they were fighting, Brutus' army was actually defeating his half of the field. Secondly, Cassius killed himself because he thought his best friend had died because sent him to his tents on his own horse. Thirdly, Brutus killed himself 1) because Cassius was dead and 2) he did not want to face the dishonor of being captured or killed by the opposing army.

    Cassius and Brutus

The reason that Cassius and Brutus both commited suicide was because they knew that Antony's army would have defeated their own and did not want to give Antony or his followers the satisfaction of watching either of them die.
