(they might not be such great lyrics in type, but when you hear them sung with such drama, they're much better)
    Great track...

Shall I tell you about my life
They say I'm a man of the world
    I've flown across every tide
And I've seen lots of pretty girls

    I guess I've got everything I need
    I would't ask for more
And there's no one I'd rather be
But I just wish that I'd never been born

And I need a good woman
to make me feel like a good man should
    I don't say I'm a good man
Oh, but I would be if I could

I could tell you about my life
And keep you amused I'm sure
About all the times I've cried
And how I don't want to be sad anymore
And how I wish I was in love

" But when ye come, and all the flowers are dying
If I am dead, as dead I well may be
You'll come and find the place where I am lying
And kneel and say an "Ave" there for me.
And I shall hear, tho' soft you tread above me
And all my grave will warmer, sweeter be
For ye shall bend and tell me that you love me
And I shall sleep in peace until you come to me."

"Slip inside the eye of your mind
Don't you know you might find
    A better place to play
You said that you'd never been
But all the things that you've seen
    Will slowly fade away
So I start a revolution from my bed
'Cause you said the Brains I had went to my head
Step outside the summertime's in bloom
    Stand up beside the fireplace
Take that look from off your face
You ain't ever gonna burn my heart out
So Sally can wait, she knows it's too late as we're walking on by
Her soul slides away, but don't look back in anger
    I heard you say"

Oasis "Don't Look Back in Anger"

And from Elbow's "The Bones of You"

    "So I'm there
Charging around with a juggernaut brow
Overdraft, speeches and deadlines to make
Cramming commitments like cats in a sack
Telephone burn and a purposeful gait
When out of a doorway the tentacles stretch
Of a song that I know
And the world moves in slow-mo
    Straight to my head
like the first cigarette of the day
And it's you, and it's May
And we're sleeping through the day
    And I'm five years ago
    And three thousand miles away
    Do I have
time? A man of my calibre
Stood in the street like a sleepwalking teenager
    No.
And I dealt with this years ago
I took a hammer to every memento
But image on image like beads on a rosary
pulled through my head as the music takes hold
and the sickener hits; I can work till I break
but I love the bones of you
    That, I will never escape"

I'm so tired, I'm so weary
I could sleep for a thousand years
A thousand dreams that would awake me
    Different colors made of tears
Oh, Time, Strength, Cash, and Patience!

Well I'm living in a foreign country but I'm bound to cross the line
Beauty walks a razor's edge someday I'll make it mine
If I could only turn back the clock to when God and her were born
    "Come in" she said
"I'll give you shelter from the storm".

    Old pirates, yes, they rob I;
Sold I to the merchant ships,
    Minutes after they took I
    From the bottomless pit.
But my hand was made strong
By the 'and of the Almighty.
    We forward in this generation
    Triumphantly.
    Won't you help to sing
    This songs of freedom
    'Cause all I ever have:
    Redemption songs;
    Redemption songs.

    Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery;
None but ourselves can free our minds.
Have no fear for atomic energy,
'Cause none of them can stop the time.
How long shall they kill our prophets,
While we stand aside and look? Ooh!
Some say it's just a part of it:
We've got to fullfil the book.

    Won't you help to sing
    This songs of freedom-
    'Cause all I ever have:
    Redemption songs;
    Redemption songs;
    Redemption songs.

I was singing this to myself and chuckling today as it reminds me of my Dad who used to sing bits of it - and the violence is appropriate to him too. He had his last big fight in his fifties.

Well I hit him right between the eyes
And he went down, but to my surprise,
He came up with a knife and cut off a piece of my ear.

Well I busted a chair right across his teeth
And we crashed through the wall and into the street-
    Kicking and a-gouging
In the mud and the blood and the beer.

Your socks they smell, your feet they stink,
    You never take a bath.
Your nose it runs, you bust your buns,
    You always finish last.

    Sick! Of! Youuuuu.
I'm so sick, so sick of you.

Your face is gross, you eat white toast,
You don't know what to do.
It's just your luck, you really suck,
    That's all - I'm sick of you

Don't ya know? So sick of you.
Things you say, and all the things you do.

(sick of you, gwar <3 )

    My God.

    Jethro Tull.

    People what have you done
locked him in his Golden cage.
Made him bend to your religion
    Him resurrected from the grave.

He is the God of nothing
if that's all that you can see.
You are the God of everything
    He's inside you and me.

    So lean upon him gently
and dont call upon him to save you
    from your social graces
and the sins you used to waive.

    The bloody church of England
    in chains of history
    requests your earthly presense
    at the Vicerage for tea.

And the graven image, you know who,
    with his plastic crucifix
    He's got him fixed
confuses me to where and why
as to how he gets his kicks.

    Confessing to the endless sin
    the endless whining sounds.
you'll be praying till next Thursday to
all the Gods that you can count.

"Did you write the book of love,
And do you have faith in God above,
If the Bible tells you so...
Do you believe in rock ’n roll,
Can music save your mortal soul,
And can you teach me how to dance real slow?"
