a joke, but not a bad one, given that it is meant to be a comedy and a way of cocking a snook at the posh Pommies who speak proper.....and when Higgins found he had been the pupil and not the teacher, all the lower crust were able to snigger... It need not have been pointed out quite so explicitly, after all, who didn' t know that the Irish are the best writers in the English language?
a pity your reviewer cannot spell....perhaps he/she has also missed the point. <br>Shaw' s play has been overrated because the Brits love a misogynist.....and it is basically an attack on English mores, patronising to women, and not a patch on the original. The real play is much more subtle and worth reading even when we know the tragic outcome.

A play to depict the hypocricy of the upper and middle class through the use of sarcastic dialogues and the delightful figure of Liza Doolitle as a second Galatea but not falling for her Pugmalion... The sucess of Shaw's play was as remarkable than so many adaptions occured including the most succesful musical 'My fair Lady' starring Rex Harisson and Audrey Hepburn.
