That's pretty cool, I saw Canada play the USA in the world championship once. I think it must have been 6 years ago, it was being cohosted between Montreal and Toronto, unfortunately it was in the preliminaries and not for a medal.
Edit: haha apparently I have a bad memory cause it was in 2008.

*sigh* I keep missing the figure skating...![]()
Men's long program tomorrow!
Can't remember when the pairs long or the womens' short are...
I'm weary with right-angles, abbreviated daylight,
Waiting for a winter to be done.
Why do I still see you in every mirrored window,
In all that I could never overcome?

'Also, the Norwegians are wearing ridiculous checkered pants.'
I am so glad somebody commented on that.
I think they're fabulous...
Never really thought about uh, the pairs luge before, but after seeing some photos online/the news, I am so delighted. How exactly does one get into that sport... and where do they buy their delightful outfits?
Naked except for a cigarette, you let your mind drift and forget your disbelief. Feel the chill down your back and the flutter of wings through dandelion fields, and forget the pull of gravity in a night without stars.
I lack eloquence and commitment to my arguments. They are half baked, and I will begin passionately, and then abandon them.
Shaun White = The Man. Really, really good run by Peetu Piiroinen as well. Two Americans and a Finn walking away with medals? Good to go!
That was a pretty brutal event to watch. I mean, the Chinese definitely earned it, but considering the criteria for doing well was basically not falling, it certainly wasn't the best. The pairs free skate was two days ago, Chinese got gold and silver, Germans got bronze.
Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better, it's not.
Yeah, he really has no competition at all. His last round was just an exhibition haha

Yeah, that night was awful. Pretty embarrassing on the part of everyone but the Chinese.

I thought the German pair had pretty good skates. The Chinese, Russians, and Germans were the only ones going into that competition that had any chance of medalling anyway.
On the other hand, the men's singles was fantastic. Some great performances, too bad Patrick Chan choked a little. He always chokes, any competition I've watched him in he does it. When he's on he's on, evident from his silver at worlds, but he's so rarely on.

I was throughly unimpressed with the Germans. I'm sorry, but you shouldn't be able to stumble through your program and win an olympic medal. I was sad about the Russians- I really liked that pair. I was talking to a friend of mine who is a figure skater and follows the circuit really closely, and I was asking her about the Canadian pair. Apparently they are definitely good enough to compete with the Chinese teams, but the girl doesn't do well under big pressure. She's sure they'll come back to medal at the Worlds but that still sucks
Yeah, the mens was way better. Not surprised about Chan, though still disappointed. He hasn't skated a clean short program yet this year, which sucks. Also, too bad Plushy's a giant tool.

The Germans skated to something from the "Out of Africa" soundtrack. Obvious flaws aside in their skating, that will permanently endear them to my heart.I thought the German pair had pretty good skates.

Haha, he was badmouthing Lysacek at the press conference after for not doing the quad.
Lysacek is a bit of an awkward gangly weirdo, but at least he doesn't come off as a jackass like Plushenko.
The male figure skaters are a weird group this time round. Weir is probably the most over the top flamboyantly gay figure skater ever.
Patrick Chan is really awkward in interviews also, and he's a bit cross-eyed. I want to rout for him because he's Canadian, but you can feel the nervousness radiating from him.
Can't really comment on the Japanese figure skaters, besides them being very talented on the jumps.
