    Hmm, I guess I'd always thought of Emily as rather rapt up in her own world and writings, and consequently Wuthering as being almost another world, certainly not the kind of novel that contains much historical or social backdrop. Don't get me wrong, it's fascinating, but played out a narrow stage.

    As to the influences of the period, you might want to research the byronic hero element - I think you'd get a lot on that.
