    Oh yes, I remember these guys! They don't really evoke any strong feelings one way or another. Definitely better than average but they lack a certain energy for me. 6 out of 10

    It reminds me of my dad because he loves stuff like that so while it has positive connotations...it's not my thing.

    I can only muster up 3/10 for Dead Weather;
    1 because the video is in black and white
    2 for the gothic Vaudeville dames on the bass drum and
    3 for the Bod Diddley rectangular guitar.

    Now Patti Page is closer to "my thing", but turn back another ten years and give me Helen Forrest

    Helen Forrest apears to be in black-and-white. And there's a Vaudeville dame on a bench. And Artie is even squarer than Bo Diddeley's guitar. So things do not bode well for Deep Purple. Not my speed at all - 4/10.

    Touch the hem of my garment, mortal, and let me take you as far from this Big Band schmaltz as cyberspace will allow....

    Ah, Alice.

    8/10 for Alice.

    How about some pre-punk raw?

    Not sure I'd call them pre-punk. Love Bites was released in '78, a year after Spiral Scratch and the departure of Howard Devoto. I'd say that the Buzzcocks were chronologically bang in the middle of punk and attitudinally a precursor to the New Wave.

    Christ, I'm old.

    Anyway - 8/10 for sheer exuberant jangliness and Steve Diggle's Les Paul TV.

    Speaking of exuberant jangliness, this got overlooked last time I offered it up, so here it is again for your attention.

    So, I'm not a big fan of 80s music in general, but I like that, it's actually really quite good, plus they have an awesome name! 7/10

    I offer up this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akv1xOqNZHI
    "...You are not wrong, who deem
    That my days have been a dream;
    Yet if hope has flown away
    In a night, or in a day,
    In a vision, or in none,
    Is it therefore the less gone?..." E. A. Poe

    Not for me Scher 4/10. I'm still more than a little pissed at Sheryl her, er, 'cover' of 'Sweet Child O' Mine'

    My last Warren Zevon was ignored but being a stickler for good taste and education, I offer the following:

    8.5/10 -- always enjoyed the Pixies when I was in college, and they still hold up.

    How about this little duet?
