    Great Expectations-A fairy tale

    hi everyone,
    I want to know how dickens uses & reshapes the fairy tale element in Great Expections ?

    It has some characters who are similar to fairy tale figures. Miss Havisham could be a witch or fairy godmother (though probably witch). Estella is a beautiful princess. Orlick is an ogre. Pip would be the hero. Not sure what Joe would be. Maybe a good spirit. He has been described as a holy fool or a Christ figure. I thought he seemed a bit like an angel. He is unconditionally kind and understanding, immensely strong but unable to give total protection to young Pip. Not sure what Magwitch would be either, maybe a misunderstood beast like in Beauty and the Beast.
