Why?

Why interpret anything? Why assume that things have meaning? WHAT POSSIBLE REASON COULD ANYONE HAVE FOR WRITING SOMETHING THAT HAS MEANING?

Okay, I got a bit loud there. People want meaning in things because we need things to make sense. I suspect that part of the purpose for writing with multiple meanings is that it shows the ambiguities and grey areas of real life. Sure, sometimes things are what they seem, but there a possible interpretations for so much that sometimes even interpretation of things with multiple meanings provides people with a common ground on whch to relate.
